Pensacola has some big shoes to fill when it comes to donut shops! Between The Donut Shoppe, Good Dough, and (my personal favorite) The Mini Bar, Jacksonville has the donut market on lock. This week Emme and I checked out Maynard’s Donut Co. to see how their donuts stack up to the competition in Jacksonville.
Located in a small strip mall on Nine Mile Road, Maynard’s Donut Co. is serving up Southern Maid yeast and cake donuts with a variety of toppings and fillings as well as Ka’u coffee. The restaurant is small but offers up plenty of seating and free wifi for those that are looking for a coffice. (That’s a “coffee shop office” for those of you that aren’t up to date on your lingo.) Glazed donuts are available all day but the specialty donuts are only available while supplies last.
After gazing through the case, I decided to go with a classic chocolate frosted with sprinkles and a Fruity Pebbles. The staff was super helpful and even threw in a handful of glazed donut holes for Emme. Out of habit I pulled out my credit card when I got to the till and was informed that there’s a $3 minimum for credit card purchases. My total was only $2.70! No problem, I keep a few dollars around for this reason. (And really should get better at paying with cash, especially at small businesses.)
So, how do the donuts measure up? They were really G🍩🍩D! The donuts were light and airy with just the right amount of glaze and toppings. Emme was a big fan of the donut holes. (You can see video of her chowing down in my Instagram ❤ highlights.) And OF COURSE we wore our donut shirts for our visit!
Maynard’s Donut Co. is open seven days a week for your donut loving convenience. I’m looking forward to exploring more of the donut scene in Pensacola but Maynard’s was a solid start.
