Well, the holidays are officially upon us and we’re wrapping up 2016. Where did this year go? I feel like I say that every year but they just keep going by quicker and quicker. I can’t believe that this time next year I’ll have a 9 month old to keep up with. I have to admit that I’m feeling kind of Scrooge-y this year. But I’m hoping that some of these festive events will get me in the Christmas spirit.
If you’re looking for some family-friendly holiday fun, I’ve got you covered. Here are some festive events going on in Jacksonville through the month of December.
You know the story – all Ralphie wants for Christmas is a Red Ryder BB Gun despite everyone’s warning, “You’ll shoot your eye out!” And who can forget the infamous leg lamp. Join the Alhambra Dinner Theatre for a showing of A Christmas Story now through December 24th. I attended one of the first showings with my family and we had a blast! >> EVENT DETAILS
See the Zoo in a whole new light this holiday season with ZOOlights December 9th – December 11th and December 16th – January 7th. Thousands of LED lights will transform the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens into a luminous winter wonderland filled with moving sculptures, forests of lighted trees and animal silhouettes. >> EVENT DETAILS
The classic tale comes to life as Jacksonville’s best dancers perform the Nutcracker ballet at the Florida Theatre. With only three showings December 9th and 10th, you don’t want to miss this 25 year tradition. I have been to this show throughout my life more times than I can imagine and every time it’s brilliant. >> EVENT DETAILS
