Jacksonville Food Truck Rally

Last Saturday I finally got the opportunity to attend the Food Truck Rally coordinated by the Jacksonville Food Truck Food Court. This rally featured 15 of Jacksonville’s best food trucks in the parking lot of Academy Sports at Atlantic and Kernan and benefited the HealthyU Now Campus for Autism.

Our friends Dustin and Bekah were visiting from Atlanta so it was a fun and delicious way to show off some of Jacksonville’s best mobile restaurants. And despite the heat (no, but seriously, it was H-O-T) we really enjoyed all of the great food. And y’all already know how big of fans we are of our local food trucks.

The major advantage to a food truck rally is the opportunity to try foods from numerous trucks and for everyone in your party to pick their favorites. Adam headed right over to Danilo’s Famous Lumpia, as I knew he would since Lumpia is one of his favorite foods. And he said they did not disappoint!

Adam also tried out two kebabs from Delish Kebabs – the top sirloin kebab and a bacon wrapped chicken kebab. The sirloin kebab was the better of two but you can’t go wrong with bacon!

Dustin opted for a Sushi Burrito from Blazin Azn, a special they had created for the event. Shrimp, avocado, mango, cucumber, and other delicious sushi accoutrements all wrapped up burrito style in a sheet of seaweed. I’m definitely wishing I would have tried one of these!

I headed over to The Happy Grilled Cheese truck to see my girl Brittny and try the apple and onion grilled cheese. So good! What is it with sweet and savory that’s so delicious? I washed everything down with a fresh mango lemonade from Island Dream.

Bekah stopped at Cuban Fire Grill for a chicken quesadilla and an order of sweet plantains. Fun fact: you can get the plantains sweet or savory. But when I think of plantains, I think of dessert and apparently Bekah agrees.

Jacksonville Food Truck Food Court is located off Beach Boulevard and open Tuesday through Friday for lunch. If you can’t make it by the food court, follow their Facebook page to find out when and where they are holding their next food truck rally.
