April Reads

Ok, so I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’ve found my reading mojo, but I did manage to read one book in April. Nothing to jump for joy about – I’m only 7 books into my goal of #Read52in16 which makes me TEN books behind schedule – but one is better than none. Unlike last month, I can’t blame this month on having a book hangover, I just didn’t make enough time for reading. And I noticed the lack of literature.

But the one book that I did read this month was A+. Y’all know how much I loved Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry. (I talked about it in January Reads in case you need a recap.) The second book in the Thunder Road series came out at the end of March (had it on pre-order so I got it the day it came out, thank you Amazon!) and I devoured it.

Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry – ★★★★☆

The Reign of Terror Motorcycle Club is back in the second installment of the Thunder Road series by Katie McGarry. Thomas “Razor” Turner sets out to help goody-two-shoes brainiac Breanna Miller from a bully at their high school. In exchange for his protection, Breanna offers to help Razor solve a puzzle regarding his mother’s death. And of course in the process of helping each other, they end up falling in adorable puppy love. (Not a spoiler, you totally saw that coming.) This book is not going to change your life, thus the four stars, but it’s entertaining. And as the “ol’ lady” in a motorcycle club, I appreciated the mostly accurate MC portrayal. (Not all bikers are bad scary people, swearsies!)

For what it’s worth, I started two other books in April but haven’t finished them quite yet. I’m reading Bringing Up Bebe in chunks because it’s not really one of those sit-down-and-devour-in-one-sitting kind of books. A very interesting read though! And no, I don’t have something to tell you. #justresearch

I’m also reading or maybe re-reading Love The One You’re With by Emily Giffin. I can’t remember if I’ve read this one before but I’m a fan of her works so I figured reading it again wouldn’t hurt. She writes books that are great to read while hanging out on the beach or lounging by the pool in the Summer. (Or while laying in the grass while your husband fishes, as I have been doing.)

What have you been reading lately? Follow me on Goodreads to keep up with my reading progress… and maybe motivate me to actually read.
