If you follow me over on Instagram (which you totally should), you know I’m a budding artist. I use the term “budding” loosely because I really don’t know what I’m doing but I’ve been enjoying the learning process. If you follow this blog, you know I’m a big fan of happy hour. Wine-ing down after a long week is the best. So, naturally I love the idea of painting, drinking wine, and spending time with girlfriends all at the same time.
Pinot’s Palette in the St. Johns Town Center is an upscale studio where you paint, drink, and have fun. You provide the wine and the friends, Pinot’s Palette provides everything you need to paint a frame worthy piece of art. Really!
Desi and I got the opportunity to attend Pinot’s open house and had a great time snacking, sipping, and painting. And despite our insecurities, we both left with pieces of art that were much better than our expectations.
Thanks to some of the great neighboring restaurants like Burger Fi, Black Finn Grille, and Gilmon’s Bakery, we had plenty of delicious treats to snack on while we painted. This night, Pinot’s provided the wine but on a normal night, it’s BYOB… bring your own bottle!
Pinot’s even provided some fun props for us to take photos with. Desi does a mean impression of Bob Ross! And I am way too excited over that aluminum foil engagement ring.
The Pinot’s staff was enthusiastic and excited to debut the newest painting studio in Jacksonville. We kicked the night off with a ribbon cutting ceremony to christen the studio.
With our instructor ready, a full glass of wine on hand, and all of our supplies laid out, it was time to start painting! Our instructor was really fun and outgoing. She kept us laughing with jokes and fun music during painting time. They even played a few games during the night to win Pinot’s prizes.
The instructor guides you through each step of the painting. If you lose your way, there’s plenty of staff on hand to help you. Desi and I got really nervous when it came time to outline the bottles and glass. I obviously went the champagne flute route. Love a good bottle of bubbles!
Desi went the traditional route with her bottle of wine. That was the best part of the whole night – not a single painting looked the same. You can mix colors, add more of one, less of another, change the shape. The painting is completely up to you. You’re the artist!
Voila! Our masterpieces are complete. And we had such a great time.
