Now that Adam and I have officially been married for a month, I thought it was about time to finish sharing the rest of the updates from our wedding. Better late than never, right? Let’s start with the wedding showers.
We were so fortunate to have two showers for our wedding. The first was a couple’s shower in January in Georgia where Adam’s family and friends arranged a whole luncheon at a local restaurant in our honor.
The decorations for the shower were perfectly “me.” Leopard, black, red. A giant version of our invitation welcomed guests into the space. There were bottles and jars wrapped with twine and photos of Adam and I. The cake was my favorite part. Not only was it beautiful to look at but it tasted amazing too. One layer was strawberry and the other was chocolate marble. YUM!
We spent the afternoon eating lunch, chatting, and opening gifts with our favorite people. We received so many great gifts that it seems unfair to pick a favorite but Adam’s grandmother crocheted (knitted?) us a beautiful multicolored blanket that we’re sure to cherish for years.
We had such a great time with everyone that day. We left Georgia loaded down with gifts (no, really, we almost didn’t get everything into the car!) and feeling so blessed.
The second shower was a bridal shower in February in Jacksonville where a whole bunch of women came to my Aunt Barbara’s house to shower me with love.
My Aunt Karen, Meemaw, and cousin Savannah came down from North Carolina and surprised me. And boy, was I surprised! The other lovely woman is my mom, not that you couldn’t tell since we look so much alike. (People swear we’re sisters!)
Everyone chatted and mingled. We noshed on some delicious hors d’oeuvres and drank punch. We played a couple of shower games. (I even won one, thus the excited arm raise.) I opened gift after gift with the help of Madilyn, my little flower girl.
I really feel guilty again for picking a “favorite” gift but I have to share the basket my BFF Shelley put together. She gathered bottles of wine and labeled them for different occasions in our marriage – honeymoon, first fight, first baby, etc. – with cute little tags she purchased on Etsy. She even threw in toasting glasses. Is that not a creative and great gift, or what?
Throughout the shower, and unbeknownst to me, everyone helped fill in a MadLib about how Adam and I met. Hilarity ensued!
Possibly even funnier than the MadLib was Nana reading “the things I will say on my wedding night,” aka what I said while opening gifts.
Hilarious, right?! (Or maybe you had to have been there. But I hope you got a little bit of a chuckle out of this.)
Both showers were so much fun and I’m so thankful for the time that everyone took out of their days to come celebrate with us. I really couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our wedding… except for maybe a really fun and crazy Bachelorette party!
