On Birthdays, Movies, & Delicious Pizza

You guys, today is the first day I’ve had to myself in weeks. WEEKS.

Halle-freakin’-lujah.

Adam is officially (and finally) 100% moved into the house. My heart is so full. I’ve already enjoyed having him there so much, and while I know there will be times we push each other’s buttons, I am so excited to share a domestic space with him. Hopefully he can curb those packrat ways. This neat freak can’t handle it.

There are still boxes to unpack, the house needs to be cleaned (don’t get me started on these dirty floors!), and the laundry is a never ending cycle. If I don’t get this house fully sorted out soon, I might go insane. I’m only slightly kidding. But today is for taking some much needed time to myself. For weeks I’ve been going, going, going with work, social events, and chores. Today I am caving into my introverted ways and recharging my batteries, starting right here with updating the ol’ blog.

I missed this space.

So, what’s been going on aside from Adam moving in?

I got a new phone for my birthday. My beloved iPhone 4S finally met it’s demise when it landed face first on my driveway. Doh! I held out until my birthday though and my dad bought me a new phone – an HTC One M8. Yep, that’s right. I switched to Droid. And you know what? I haven’t regretted it yet. It’s definitely taking some getting used to.

Adam and I had a great weekend celebrating our birthdays with friends and family. It's so much fun sharing a birthday with him. #happybirthdaysweetheart

And speaking of birthdays, Adam and I celebrated our birthdays with crab legs at Nana and Poppie's house. We had such a fun and messy night. Crab legs, baked potatoes, salad, cake, and ice cream. YUM-O!

I FINALLY got to see Captain America: Winter Soldier. I barely made it through the previews without geeking out. I mean, there's so many good movies coming out. TMNT, Lucy, X-Men, Spider-Man, Malificent? Um, yeah. The movie was also really good. I don't want to spoil anything. I'm hoping to go see it again with Poppie.

Adam went out the other night with the guys so I spent the evening lounging around the house and enjoying the quiet. I caught the first few minutes of <a href=Hart of Dixie while I ate my dinner and now I’ve been binge watching the first season on Netflix. It’s so cute! It’s a little over the top (I mean, there’s a female character named Lemon and the Southern Belle thing is a bit much) but it’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a series so much. We started Breaking Bad and I just can’t get into it, though Adam seems to be enjoying it.

Happy Easter! #ootd #wiw #retiringthisdress #toooldforshortskirts

I’ve been lazy in the fashion department lately. It’s been a lot of jeans and t-shirts. This is partially due to the weather which can’t make up it’s mind. Hot, cold, hot, cold, wet. It’s a vicious Florida cycle. And partially due to the fact that I haven’t put away my laundry in weeks. I know, I know. But I finally put together a cute little diddy for Easter… and promptly added the dress to the donate pile. It’s a litttttle on the short side for my liking. #iamgettingold

It should be known that I love pizza. Like,¬†good¬†pizza. Don’t give me any crappy “fast food” pizza like Dominos or Pizza Hut. (Blech!) But I love pizza made with a thin crust, good sauce base, and fresh toppings. We tried out a new pizza place the other night. Your Pie is like a Chipotle for pizza. You pick your crust, sauce, and toppings and they bring you out a piping hot pizza made exactly how you want it. It was so good! I can’t wait to go back.

Took my new mixer for a whirl and made Funfetti Cupcakes using @howsweeteats recipe!

I was lucky enough to get a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for my birthday. Yay! I couldn’t wait to try it out so I made funfetti cupcakes using How Sweet Eats recipe. Now, I can hold my own in the kitchen when it comes to cooking but I’ve never had much luck when it comes to baking. It’s an art form that I just can’t seem to master. So, the cupcakes turned out… alright. They weren’t great. A little dry and honestly, I don’t think I cared for the recipe much. I’m more of a red velvet or chocolate girl. But I will try again!

Okay, I think that’s it. I feel like I only write update posts these days. I’m hoping to find more time to write something more substantial. But until then, what have you been up to?

Thank you! I am excited to have him. And so far he’s proven to be the best roommate I’ve ever had, haha.
